Prank and scam calls happen every day.

At last check, an estimated 33 million scam robocalls are made daily here in the U.S. alone!

No one is impervious to them, case in point, one of the players in last week's NFL Draft, Shedeur Sanders, the quarterback from Colorado, was pranked during the draft.

Sanders, who was predicted to go very early in the draft, slipped all the way to the fifth round on Saturday. Before finally being selected by the Cleveland Browns, Sanders was pranked by the son of the Falcons' defensive coordinator, who portrayed himself as the General Manager of another NFL team calling to select Sanders.

Needless to say, that little stunt is all the talk in the NFL at the moment.

It's a cruel and conniving world.

That was on full display here in Sioux Falls this past week when a Sioux Falls man was scammed into emptying his bank account.

Dakota News Now reports that the victim was called by a man posing as a Sioux Falls bank employee. Initially, the victim received a text message from the suspect pretending to be an employee from his local bank.

According to Dakota News Now, the scammer asked the victim if he had spent some money at a local business. A short time later, he received an actual phone call from a person who was once again posing as a bank employee. This time, the scammer asked if the victim had scheduled a wire transfer to another individual for $45,000.

The victim informed the scammer that he had not, and the person on the phone instructed him to empty his bank account and drive to an ATM. He was given a new bank account number and told to deposit his money in a new account to keep it safe.

Dakota News Now reports that the victim complied, but then eventually figured out that he was being scammed and filed a report with authorities on Thursday, (April 24).

His bank is in the process of trying to get his money back at this time.
