Christmas at the Cathedral is more than just another holiday event. It is the kind of soul-stirring, heart-opening, eye-widening, mind-blowing celebration that only comes around once a year!

The objective each year is to tell the "story of God's incarnation like never before" in this one-of-a-kind performance. In years past, they have told the story of Christ's birth through the eyes of his mother, Mary, his father, Joseph, and other participants in the Christmas story.

Each December, Christmas at the Cathedral fills Sioux Falls with a sense of wonder, music, and tradition. Held inside the beautiful Cathedral of St. Joseph, the annual event has become one of the community’s most cherished holiday celebrations. Audiences return year after year to experience the soaring vocals, live orchestra, and powerful storytelling that make the performance so unique.

Christmas at the Cathedral is more than a concert—it’s a moment of reflection during an already busy season. The show blends sacred music, narration, and stunning visual elements to highlight the true meaning of Christmas: hope, generosity, and light in the midst of winter’s darkness. For many families, attending has become a treasured tradition that marks the start of their holiday season.

Christmas at the Cathedral is happening Thursday, December 18, through Sunday, December 21. Tickets are available at all Hy-Vee stores and also online. Don't wait, these performances sell out quickly, and seating is first-come, first-served.

The event also supports a larger mission. Proceeds benefit the Bishop Dudley Hospitality House as well as the ongoing care of the Cathedral of St. Joseph, one of the region’s most significant civic and sacred landmarks. That spirit of giving is at the heart of the production, reminding attendees that Christmas is a time to lift others up.

Whether you’re drawn by the music, the message, or the simple beauty of the cathedral itself, Christmas at the Cathedral continues to bring the community together in a meaningful and memorable way.
