A Winter Weather Advisory has now been issued for the Sioux Falls Area from 5:00 AM Thursday to 1:00 AM Friday (3/16-3/17).

"Plan on slippery road conditions. Blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility, with near-blizzard conditions possible at times, especially during falling snow and in rural areas. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.- National Weather Service

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations of
  2 to 5 inches and ice accumulations of less than one tenth of
  an inch. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Iowa, southwest
  Minnesota, northeast Nebraska and east central and southeast
  South Dakota.

* WHEN...From 4 AM Thursday to 1 AM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Blowing snow could
  significantly reduce visibility, with near blizzard conditions
  possible at times, especially during falling snow and in rural
  areas. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or
  evening commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.
