What Do We Know About The First Snowfall?
It looks like Jack Frost will be making an appearance in the Sioux Empire this Saturday. The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls is certain that parts of Iowa, Minnesota, and South Dakota will see some sort of precipitation and strong wind gusts. Especially for central South Dakota
While there are still many details yet to iron out, those with travel or outdoor plans this weekend should be aware of the potential for our first snow of this autumn season on Saturday. Precipitation could be accompanied by increasing winds (especially toward central South Dakota), and followed by colder temperatures for early next week
The National Weather Service in Sioux Falls is still researching the temperatures, intensity, amounts of snow, and path of this system. Our friends at Dakota News Now are also tracking every aspect of this weekend's weather forecast.
The weekend looks to bring cooler temperatures and also the risk of some light rain and even some light snowfall. We’re tracking an area of low pressure that will quickly sweep through on Saturday and will potentially bring some accumulating snowfall to parts of the area. Right now, the chances of that occurring look to be in northern parts of South Dakota and western Minnesota. Because of this clipper system bringing some big changes, Saturday will be a First Alert Weather Day. Conditions will clear out for Sunday, but we’ll only be in the 30s for highs.
You can never be too careful when it comes to crazy winter weather in South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. Keep up with the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls and our news partners at Dakota News Now for the latest weather updates throughout the week.
