South Dakota is filled with stories of the past. Whether its the legendary tales of those who once roamed the Black Hills, or the first settlers along the prairie of the Missouri River; the almost mythical folklore that surrounds the Mount Rushmore State can fill a book.

It's also a state with several abandoned Ghost Towns. As we've explored in previous articles, the sheer amount of deserted towns scattered across the state is astounding. Some of which still have quite the story to tell.

In a recent video, famed YouTuber Chris Attrell took an unforgettable look at some of South Dakota's legendary ghost towns.

Attrell left no stone unturned, as he trekked out to several of the state's most fascinating deserted communities, including Cottonwood, Awanka, Capa, Okaten, Ardmore, Belvidier, and Mystique.

Each of these now forgotten towns has a story to tell and this video shows just how it was they became 'Ghost Towns' in the first place.
