Sioux Falls Reptile Adventure Zoo Welcomes Home Big New Lizard
If you're a fan of large reptiles, there is a new friend you have to meet at one of the newest Sioux Falls attractions.
Sioux Falls Reptile Adventure Zoo is a sanctuary and pet store all wrapped into one. Some of the most exotic creatures call it home, including a new, giant lizard all the way from Tanzania.

Say hello to Big Al! He's a Black Throat Monitor and one of the largest species in the world.
What's A Black Throated Monitor?
Funny enough: These lizards are known to be "gentle giants." Even though these reptiles are big, they tend to have dog-like personalities. They can easily be trained and show affection, especially towards experienced keepers. This Sioux Falls Gentle Giant Big Al could get up to seven feet long and weigh over 60 pounds, woah!
Staff at the Reptile Adventure Zoo are super excited to bring Big Al to Sioux Falls as a permanent resident. They introduced him to the Sioux Empire in a Facebook post.
Big Al just arrived and is already showing off that powerful, prehistoric presence that makes this species so captivating. These intelligent giants are native to Tanzania and are known for their bold personalities and impressive size.
Big Al is set to become a fan-favorite among the Sioux Empire. And staff at Reptile Adventure Zoo say he is adjusting fast to his new home!
