Missouri has seen what almost seems like a train of winter systems traveling across Missouri the past couple of weeks and that may continue into March as the polar vortex has collapsed. It could mean what will seem like a parade of storms traveling across Missouri.

I really try to not get too technical when I share content about weather. While my wife the meteorologist digs deep into atmospheric variants to try and figure out what the next weather trend will be, I just want to know if it's going to be hot, cold, wet or dry. I share this because there are some big time technical things going on with the polar vortex. The simplest explanation I've seen is the one just dropped by meteorologist Travis Roberts who showed what's happening in the arctic right now.

The simplest way to explain this is the polar vortex has collapsed which has resulted in low pressure in Canada. For those like you and me that just want to know if that means it will be hot, cold, wet or dry, this is likely to lead into a pattern where we will see one winter storm system after another impacting Missouri.

There are models already showing another winter storm system impacting Missouri this weekend and then the middle of next week, too. Long-range forecasts show this pattern continuing into at least mid-March. We will see brief warmups in between the storms, but get used to having the chance of at least a little snow about every 3 to 4 days over the next few weeks. Blame the polar vortex collapse on what will happen to Missouri.
