A South Dakota organization says they are still available to help residents navigate and Medicare before the open enrollment period expires.

The South Dakota Senior Health Information and Insurance Education (SHIINE) offers free assistance with free one-on-one counseling.  They says its important to have all documentation available, including a Medicare card and a current list of medications.

The Medicare open enrollment period ends on December 7, 2017.

According to their website, Shiine is a federally funded program through the Administration for Community Living and administered by the South Dakota Department of Human Services Division of Long Term Services and Support. Shiine says they are not affiliated with any insurance company.
