Authorities are investigating a fatal crash six miles east of Tea that took the life of a 51 year old man.

The intersection of 271st Street and 476th Avenue was filled with emergency responders on Thursday (September 28) just before 11:00 PM. A statement from Tony Mangan from The Department of Public Safety provided further details:

A 2000 Ford Explorer was northbound on 476th Avenue and failed to stop at the posted stop sign at the intersection 271st Street. The Explorer entered the intersection and struck a Dodge pickup that was westbound on 271st Street. Both vehicles came to rest in the northwest ditch.

The 51-year-old driver of the pickup was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 23 year old driver was wearing a seatbelt, and was taken to the hospital for serious but non-life threatening injuries. Charges are pending.
