David Foster, 68, Explains Why He + Katharine McPhee, 34, Are a Perfect Match
Legendary music producer David Foster, 68, made headlines earlier this month when he and Katharine McPhee, 34, confirmed they were engaged to be married. And in a new interview, Foster insists the romance is real, and that the dynamic simply works.
During a chat with Access Live Thursday (July 12), Foster revealed that he and McPhee — who first met more than a decade ago while McPhee was a contestant on American Idol — are living in bliss as they head toward marriage.
“We’re all great, we’re all happy,” he said. “And you know, for some reason, the two of us, one plus one makes four instead of two. So it seems like it’s interesting news to people, so we’re just gonna roll with it.”
The couple seemed to first confirm their relationship at May's annual Met Gala, though Foster admits the scene wasn't really his cup of tea.
“It was a great time, but it’s not really my thing. But it was really enjoyable, I liked it,” he said, and noted that he spent a bulk of the evening trying to dodge press questions about the couple's blossoming relationship. “[People on the carpet] wanted to know exactly the thing that I don’t want to talk about.”
McPhee defended her relationship with Foster earlier this month, noting on Twitter: "Y’all should be worrying more about registering to vote and midterm elections than who’s marrying me. Thank you for coming to my TED talk”
