Authorities say one man has died near a ditch fire just east of Brandon, South Dakota, early Saturday morning.

The body was discovered around 5:17 AM on Saturday (November 7) by a Minnehaha County Sheriff's deputy, according to Dakota News Now.

On Saturday morning, while on patrol, a sheriff's deputy observed a fire in a ditch on a township road east of Brandon.

Dakota News Now reports, upon investigating the fire, the deputy found the body of a man in the ditch.

The body has yet to be identified at this time.

Sheriff Mike Milstead told Dakota News Now, authorities deem the death to be suspicious, and the incident is currently under investigation.
