‘You’re Not Invited’ Wedding Alerts a Thing
Wedding planning is already full of potential friendship traps. Who's going to be in the bridal party? Who gets invited with a date? Who sits where?
Thanks to a new trend in "you're not invited" alerts, now newlyweds-to-be can also thoroughly offend those who aren't necessarily in their inner circle.
The messages can be sent by email or card to friends who may have heard about the wedding but who won't be getting an invite.
“Nine out of 10 times, it’s because of lack of space – and the couple feels super guilty,” wedding planer Tatiana Byron told TODAY.com. “These are usually people they’re friendly with, but not close to.”
It's a new tradition, and while one could argue it helps your non-essential pals plan their lives, others would say the old system of just not sending save-the-dates and invitations to those who aren't going to be invited worked just fine.
What do you think? Would be offended if you got a wedding un-vite? Or would you be grateful knowing that you definitely don't have to buy an expensive gift just so you can eat some soggy chicken and watch your college buddies dance to 'Gangnam Style'?
