A day that many thought would never return has arrived in Sioux Falls.  Gas prices have fallen to under $2 per gallon.

There was even some doubt even 6 months ago that the price for a gallon of gas would fall under $3 per gallon.  However with crude oil prices falling steadily over the latter half of 2014, the potential for this occurrence continued to rise.

One caveat, the $1.99 price is for the ethanol blend while the price of regular unleaded fuel can range 15 to 20 cents higher.

At the end of trading on December 20, the price per barrel of West Texas Intermediate crude settled at $56.52.  Essentially, the price of oil has been sliced in half since July.

Merry Christmas.
