A UK Company called Tech 21 has developed a new way to protect your smartphone.  They're calling it D30.  It's a slime like liquid that surrounds your phone.

According to Farren Sagebel, a scientist at Tech 21, it may look like a pile of goo but it protects your phone like nothing you've ever seen.

"It's a dynamic fluid that actually turns into a solid under any kind of stress.  It's a slime like liquid material that once impacted, the molecules lock together and it behaves like an incredibly strong solid.  The harder you drop your phone, if it were covered in this material, the harder it would be protected."

To prove his point, at a recent press conference Farren threw his phone onto the ground and hammered it with a mallet.  He even put some of the D30 on his finger and hit his finger with the mallet - and it worked.

The company realizes wrapping a phone with a liquid could prove to be difficult, so instead they've come up with phone cases that are infused with the material. They sell for about $35.
