The State of South Dakota may have to demolish five historically signifcant buildings.

The Governor is asking for proposals to be submitted by May 31, for restoration and redevelopment of the show barn, dairy barn, Herreid, Millette, and Ordway buildings on the old campus of the Human Services Center in Yankton.

The buildings have not been used for years and have fallen into disrepair. The Governor stated, "I wanted to provide one final opportunity for interested parties to submit restorations plans....."

According to the Governor, if viable proposals are not submitted, the buildings will be torn down. Representatives of State Government are working with the Yankton Office of Economic Development to find financially sustainable proposals.

Submit proposals by May 31, 2013 to Mike Dellinger, Yankton Office of Economic Development, 803 East Fourth Street, Yankton. Or phone him at 605-665-9011. Tours of the buildings can be arranged.
