A state work release inmate is back in the South Dakota State Penitentiary after being reported missing Wednesday afternoon.

Corrections Department officials say Reginald Walton was returned to Unit C, the minimum-custody unit of the Jameson Annex to the State Penitentiary last evening.

Walton, 51, had been reported missing from his work release job in Sioux Falls earlier in the day.

He is serving a 10-year sentence with 5 years suspended for grand theft and a 3-year sentence for possession of a controlled substance.

Both sentences are from Minnehaha County.
