A Woonsocket woman died Saturday evening in a motorcycle-semi-truck crash east of Mitchell on State Highway 38.

The South Dakota Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Jordan Dawn Hanson was a passenger riding on a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by 19-year-old Sean Millard Baas of Alexandria.

The Patrol says the Baas was slowing the eastbound motorcycle to make a right-hand turn onto Riverside Road when he lost control and the cycle began to slide.

It slid into the path of a 2015 Kenworth semi-truck that was coming to a stop at Riverside Road. Both people on the motorcycle were thrown, Hanson under the front dual wheels of the semi-trailer, where she suffered fatal injuries.

The truck driver, 62-year-old David VanZee of Huron, was not injured.

The crash happened around 6:45pm Saturday.
