Saturday March 28 at 8:30 PM, everyone in the world is asked to turn off the lights in their homes and businesses for one hour. The event is called "Earth Hour" and is sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund. The call is for everyone on the globe to do their part in order to save our planet for future generations.

To bring attention to the movement, the city of Sioux Falls is encouraging all residents and local businesses to take part in the project. The city has partnered up with the Girl Scouts Dakota Horizons to offer free glow-in-the-dark lanterns to any participating businesses to display in their windows during the event.

To obtain a free lantern, contact Troy Lambert at tlambert@siouxfalls.org. There is a limit of one lantern per business. Residents are asked to take part in Earth Hour by simply turning off all the lights in your home or business from 8:30 PM to 9:30 PM. To learn more, go to EarthHour.org.
