Police say a woman returned to her home in southwest Sioux Falls Wednesday morning to find a vehicle in her driveway and, as it turned out, an intruder was in her house.

Captain Greg VandeKamp says it was just after 10:30 a.m. when the woman arrived at her home in the 4100 block of West Mesa Pass, and he says she did the right thing by stopping up the street to call 911.

"[The homeowner] took note of the vehicle, got a liscense plate number," said VandeKamp. "Before police arrived the vehicle had left. While she was sitting there watching, she did notice a female walk out of her residence and get in her car carrying a couple of plastic bags - grocery-style bags. The police did arrive after this suspect vehicle was gone, but they were able to find the vehicle a shor time later."

VandeKamp says plastic bags, matching what the victim saw, were found in the suspect's vehicle, and the woman was also located. He says 31-year-old Sarah Almont of Sioux Falls was arrested on a third-degree burglary charge.

VandeKamp says Almont had taken groceries from the victim's house, and he says she got in through an unlocked door.
