The Democratic candidate for South Dakota Governor says that she is willing to give up her seat on the Government Operations and Audit Committee.

The group is looking into reported misconduct with the EB-5 visa program in the Governor's Office of Economic Development.

Rep. Susan Wismer made the request Wednesday to the head of the committee Republican Sen. Larry Tidemann.  If approved, Democratic legislative leaders would then choose a proxy for her at the September 24 GOAC meeting.

Noting the ties between her campaign for Governor and the prospect of her opponent, incumbent Governor Dennis Daugaard testifying at the committee, Wismer feels her presence could cast a pall over the proceedings.
