The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory in effect from 9:00 PM Monday night until 9:00 AM Tuesday morning. This advisory includes Sioux Falls, Brookings and Huron.

Cold temperatures and wind will combine to create wind chills for 15 below zero to 30 below zero late Monday evening through Tuesday morning. The wind chills will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes.

Take extra care Tuesday morning and be sure children are ready for the sub-zero temperatures this before heading off to school.

A WIND CHILL ADVISORY IS ISSUED WHEN A COMBINATION OF WIND AND COLD TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE DANGEROUS CONDITIONS FOR EXPOSED SKIN. THE WIND WILL MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 20 DEGREES BELOW ZERO OR COLDER FOR A PERIOD OF SEVERAL HOURS. THOSE PLANNING TO VENTURE OUTDOORS SHOULD DRESS WARMLY...MAKING SURE THAT ALL EXPOSED SKIN IS COVERED.
