This robin decided to build it's nest in the back of our house on the top of the electrical meter. This doesn't seem like a good choice to me.

The meter is just yards away from an oak tree. Why didn't she do like every other smart bird in the neighborhood and start her new family in the branches of some tree?

My first thought is that this is some sort of remedial robin. Then I decided to Google 'how do robins decide where to build their nests?' Nothing.

But I did find out Robins go through the nest-building process each time they produce a new brood. That's two or three times a season. Did you know that?

Have you even seen a picture of robins mating? Me neither. Guess what I Googled next.
