In 1964, four young musicians from Liverpool appeared on "The Ed Sullivan Show," and music was never the same again.

Fifty years after that iconic performance by John, Paul, George and Ringo, The Beatles have been named America's favorite band, according to a Harris Poll survey.

The survey was to determine America's favorite musicians/singers/bands. Coming in number two is Elvis Presley, who made his first appearance on "Ed Sullivan" in 1956.

Beyonce comes in at number three. Led Zepplin takes the number 4 spot. The band's first album debuted 46 years ago.

The number five spot finds a country music artist who has more number one hits than anybody in the business. His name is George Strait.

Here's the rest of the top 10:

6. Bruno Mars
7. Neil Diamond, The Eagles and Garth Brooks (tie)
