The song has been recorded hundreds of times.  The idyllic setting of Christmas and snow is the apparent dream of millions.

Sioux Falls by all accounts will be enveloped in a white landscape for the holiday season.  If this were an election, it would be akin to calling it with only 10 percent of precincts reporting.  Snow that arrived over December 3 and 4 plus additional tallies on December 7 –8 is going to stay.

Even National Weather Service Meteorologist Todd Heitkamp is pretty confident the snow will stay.  “Even with our little warming trend that we’re expecting by this weekend, we’re still not going to be above freezing.”

The forecast calls for temperatures warming to the twenties by Thursday of this week and if there were no snow the potential highs likely would have gone above freezing.  However, the long-range outlook does not look hopeful for significant snowmelt.  As you know the forecast is subject to change, but this wish is for a Christmas that is merry and bright.  Safe to say in Sioux Falls that Christmas 2013 will be white.
