Our state is turning 125 years old this year and to celebrate and commemorate this momentous occasion, Sioux Falls is burying a time capsule in November which will be opened 50 years hence. Sioux Falls residents are being encouraged by the city to contribute something which you can drop off at city hall before the close of business on Friday, November 7th.

You can also mail in your items to this address:

Heather Hitterdal
Mayor’s Office
City Hall
P.O. Box 7402
Sioux Falls, SD 57117-7402

Some suggestions include: letters, photographs, current technology, newspaper clippings and more. An eight-member committee will evaluate all submissions which may or may not be included and no items will be returned in the event that they are not used.

So what would you like to share with Sioux Falls citizens in the year 2064? Something personal? Professional? Historical? A fashion item or maybe a toy, pictures of your family? Whatever it is, get it to City Hall by November 7th! The time capsule will be buried at Falls Park near the visitor center with a plaque stating that it is to be opened in the November of South Dakota's 175th birthday.
