Thanks, El Nino - it looks like South Dakota won't be plunged into a deep freeze this winter. But, then again, it's a bit early to be sure. Thanks to weather guru Brian Kirk from the KDLT Weather Center, this model shows most of South Dakota in a "mild" pattern for the winter of 2015-2016.

The extreme northern part of the United States has "above normal" temperatures ahead if this model holds the same.While the southern portion looks to be colder than normal with above average precipitation.

But that's the thing with El Nino, she's a bit unpredictable.
