Are you traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday?  According to AAA nearly 47 million Americans are expected to travel away from home over the long weekend according to forecasts.

And with low gas prices, AAA Travel projects this holiday could be the biggest travel-by-car event since 2007.

More than 84,000 people are expected to fly and 25,200 will go by bus, train or boat.

Pump prices have fallen for ten consecutive days reaching today's national average price of $2.16 per gallon.

Some gas prices from around Sioux Falls:

-Tidal - West 12 St. = $1.76
-Costco - Grange Ave = $1.77
-Casey's - South Sycamore = $1.78
-Hy-Vee - 57th & Cliff = $1.79
-Holiday - 57th & Western = $1.79

With the lower gas prices come lower food costs for your Thanksgiving table.  The USDA said in its consumer price index report:

-Prices for beef roasts fell 1% last month
-Candy dropped 0.4%
-Snacks, gravies, coffee, milk, carbonated beverages, frozen vegetables and cheese all fell in price last month.

But unfortunately because of last years Avian flu the USDA's mid-November report on frozen tom turkeys is showing a rise in prices.  The 16-24 pound range showed that the average wholesale price was $1.35 per pound, up from last year's $1.17.

Hope you have a Safe & Happy Thanksgiving!
