Each of the 50 states is special in its own way. Thirllist.com recently did a survey on what each state is great for and not so great for. For example, South Dakota is great for those looking to retire! It says:

South Dakota is both beautiful and affordable. No, it doesn't have the warm weather you find in Florida -- but if it's good enough for George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and Theodore Roosevelt, then it's good enough for you.

But according to the site, not all is good in the state of South Dakota.  The survey says the state's teachers are the lowest paid in the nation.

The good news is that teachers aren’t singled out in South Dakota, because everyone gets paid less statewide. South Dakota actually has the lowest salaries in the country. Bad news for employees, great news for employers.

Even though South Dakota teachers are the lowest-paid in the country, they make a huge impact on today's youth. Taylor Mali who is a poet, educator, and teacher advocate. What Teachers Make is Mali’s most well-known poem and was born out of an actual dinner conversation he had.

So if you're a teacher and someone asks you how much money you make...just play this video for them! Teachers DO make a difference and should be compensated!
