What Are Those Comics On My Facebook?

Your Facebook feed has probably been taken over by these comics. That are Bitstrips, comics that let users create customizable characters and share them. They have been around since 2011. They were originally part of an anti-bullying campaign, but, then the Internet found them and turned them into something else.

The comics hung around for a while until a new mobile app caused the recent explosion. It made it real easy for users to put their own jokes in the pictures and share them.
