Are you a fan of horror movies? Ever since the 1960 film, Psycho scared the daylights out of me, I haven't been much of a horror film fan.

At this time of the year with Halloween, the scary movies are on. Some of them bring back memories of when I was in high school.

I remember my classmates coming to school the day after going out to one of these flicks for a fright night. Their faces were white as a ghost.

I'm talking about shows like Friday The 13th in 1980. It got me wondering how much money has been made by selling tickets to see scary stuff on the big screen.

I went to box office sales for horror movies. First of all, here's the Top 10 Horror Movies based on box office receipts:

1  Scream
2  Scream 2
3  Scream 3
4  Freddy Vs. Jason
5  The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
6  I Know What You Did Last Summer
7  Friday the 13th (2009)
8  A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)
9  Halloween (2007)
10  Halloween: H20

And now for the real scary part. Here's how much money was taken from all of us for tickets to see the horror films: $2,347,186,499
