Just about everybody loves pizza. It's as American as... wait a minute. OK, so it's Italian. Supposedly invented by a guy named Raffaele Esposito in Naples, Italy in 1889.

But let's face it, Americans have taken that Italian classic and made it our own with a variety of toppings from the basic (pepperoni and sausage), to the gourmet (lobster and truffles). You can't get any more American than wrapping the crust around hot dogs (thank you Pizza Hut)!

But what about here in Sioux Falls? What toppings do residents in the Sioux Empire prefer? Well, we asked and they told us. And though there were a few items from outside the pizza box (artichokes?!?!), it seems people in town like the classics.

 

Some other toppings mentioned include onions, jalapeño, extra cheese, chicken (both regular and buffalo), beef (or hamburger), shrimp and artichokes.
