The signs of progress on the Russell Street project continue as another milestone is met.

On Monday, July 7, the South Dakota Department of Transportation, in conjunction with the City of Sioux Falls will be opening the south half of the Western Avenue and Russell Street intersection and closing the West Avenue and Russell Street intersection.

The intersection is anticipated to be closed for 30 days and traffic will be directed to use Western Avenue and Prairie Avenue during the closure. Two-way traffic will be maintained from Westport Avenue to approximately Minnesota Avenue on the westbound lanes of Russell Street.

The interim completion date for the eastbound lanes of Russell Street from Westport Avenue to West Avenue is Aug. 15, 2014. The overall completion date is Nov. 21, 2014. Watch the video to see the junction before the State Track Meet in May before it was closed.
