Many moons ago, the City of Sioux Falls and the South Dakota Department of Transportation conspired to improve traffic flow on the east side of the city.

The contract was bid for a $2.77 million project which was to add turning lanes left and right and improve underground utilities in the area.

For the entire summer, plus portions of spring and autumn the intersection was under construction.  As winter or non-road construction season arrives all is well in that area.

However, at least for a few days there will be a bit of a snag farther to the west on East 10th Street near the junction of I-229.  Eastbound traffic is down to one lane between the overpass and Cleveland Avenue.

Even under normal conditions traffic can get backed up onto the controlled access highway at Exit 6.  Be ready for the possibility of a few cars stacked up on northbound
I-229 during peak drive times.
