The first day of Spring 2015 started with a solar eclipse in parts of the northern hemisphere Friday. The full phase of the eclipse was only visible in the far north, but partial phases of the eclipse were visible in parts of Europe, Asia and Africa.

The BBC captured this time lapse video of the darkening skies over Berlfast in Northern Ireland.

In London it was a little less impressive.

Denmark's Faroe Islands was one of the places that experienced the full phase of the eclipse.
