The Washington Warriors opened the season against Brandon Valley with a convincing 31-7 win. Now the team prepares for a battle with Sioux Falls Lincoln.

Washington (#4 in Jerry Palleschi's Poll) and Lincoln (#3 in Jerry Palleschi's Poll) will meet Friday night at Howard Wood Field. The Warriors started a bit slow against Brandon Valley, but rallied to take control of the game.

"I was very pleased with the overall result but we did start slow. Brandon came out with a different defense and we had to figure it out. Once we did, we got after it. Our defense did a great job, and we put points on the board on offense." - Chad Stadem, Head Coach

Offensively we saw a balanced attack for Stadem's squad. On the outside, Ty Smith and Carter Keller have been welcomed additions.

"We are so talented outside. Smith, Keller, and Logan Uttecht  have made us very athletic. It has spread the field out for us." - Stadem

Stadem will be looking to use those weapons on offense against the Patriots. Lincoln is also coming off a win, 40-19, at Rapid City Stevens. The Patriots have won the last two Class 11AAA Championships, and are riding a 23 game winning streak heading into the game. Coach Stadem says that they are the top team in his eyes.

"They are very well coached. They are extremely well coached. A little different than the past and they run the ball extremely well. In my eyes, they're undefeated over the last two years and until someone beats them they're the best team." - Stadem

The key to beating the Patriots, according to Stadem, will be to keep his offense on the field and control the time of possession.

"They like to use a lot of clock. We need to prevent them from getting first downs. Then our offense needs to go out there and get those first downs and extend drives. That's our key right there. It's been our goal all week. If we can hang onto the football and force a couple of turnovers, good things can happen."

Washington and Lincoln will meet on Friday night at 7:00
