If you want the most caffeine bang for your coffee buck, you don't want to drink a cup of Joe right when you get up.

It seems that the best time to drink coffee is dictated by our circadian rhythms and the levels of cortisol in our bodies. Circadian rhythms is our internal body clock and it controls the release of the hormone cortisol which is related to the body's level of alertness. The levels peak a couple hours after you get up, so if you drink coffee during that time the cortisol and coffee cancel each other out.

So, in order to really get that caffeine kick wait until 8:00 am or so to have that first cup of coffee.
