With the ballot this November being one of the longest in South Dakota history, more people are looking ahead of time at the sample ballot and even voting absentee.

To avoid frustration at the polls, print out the Official General Election Ballot and start your voting homework now.  To see a sample ballot specifically tailored to your district, visit the Secretary of State's website.

According to Minnehaha County Auditor Bob Litz, voters are already arriving with filled in sample ballots to streamline their voting when they arrive.

The deadline to register to vote is October 24, at 5:00 at your local County Auditor's Office.  Absentee voting is open now till November 7, 2016.

Minnehaha Coutny Auditor Bob Litz estimates up to 20,000 may be voting absentee prior to election day in Minnehaha County.
