Earlier this week, we passed the 21st anniversary of the one and only Super Bowl to be played in Minneapolis - Super Bowl XXVI, Redskins 37 Bills 24 - January 26, 1992.

Since that day, there seems to have been little or no interest from the NFL in bringing the game back to Minneapolis - until now.

Vikings Vice President Lester Bagley told KFAN 100.3 this morning:

We are in hot pursuit of Super Bowl 2018.  We have a very good shot at it.

What's changed?  The new Vikings stadium of course.  It's scheduled to open in 2016 on the existing Metrodome site.

East Rutherford, New Jersey will host the Super Bowl next year.  Arizona will get the 2015 game.  The NFL will announce the host of the 2016 game later this spring.
