Vikings Fall Three Spots In WBCA Top 25 Poll
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Augustana dropped three slots in the latest USA Today Sports/WBCA coaches’ poll released Tuesday afternoon. With a 7-2 overall record, the Vikings check in at No. 13 and have been ranked in all six editions of the top 25 poll this season.
The top nine remained unchanged as Augustana was the only top 10 team to record a loss since the week four rankings. Bentley (Mass.) holds onto the top spot with 26 of the 27 first-place votes and Gannon (Pa.) garners the final first-place nod and holds the second spot in the rankings. Emporia State, Nova Southeastern, and Colorado Mesa round out the top five, in that order.
Joining the Vikings from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference are three teams from the South Division. Wayne State jumps up three spots to No. 14, Concordia-St. Paul climbs five spots to No. 20 and Minnesota State drops 11 places to No. 23.
The Vikings split home games against Concordia-St. Paul and Minnesota State this past weekend. With Saturday’s win against MSU, head coach Dave Krauth tallied his 500th career win, becoming the 20th Division II head coach to achieve that milestone.
Augustana and Wayne State put their top-15 rankings on the line when the Vikings host the Wildcats on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
