Augustana is ranked third in the first edition of the NCAA Central Region softball rankings.

Minnesota State-Mankato is the top team in the region followed by Emporia State.  The Vikings, Central Oklahoma and Winona State round-out the top five.

The Central Region is made up of teams from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, the Mid-America Athletic Association and the Great American Conference. The top eight teams in each region will advance to the NCAA Tournament, with the top two seeds in each region hosting a Super Regional.

The Vikings dropped four spots to 17th in the National Fastpitch Coaches' Association Top 25 Poll.  Minnesota state enters the national rankings for the first time this season at No. 12 and Winona State is 25th.

Augustana is 33-8 on the season, including 16-4 in the NSIC.  The Vikings are coming off a doubleheader sweep over Southwest Minnesota State, shutting out the Mustangs 7-0 and 6-0.

Augie is scheduled to host Concordia-St. Paul on Friday before taking on the Mavericks in a Top 25 match up on Saturday.  Both doubleheaders are scheduled to start at 12:00pm at Bowden Field.
