The medical field is a popular choice for students who are making plans for their future, and those same high school students that may be interested in the healthcare industry can now register for a summer camp.

The University of South Dakota will be hosting a healthcare themed summer camp for students that will be incoming sophomores, juniors and seniors in high school. With a goal of giving students the chance to learn about the professions they are interested in, the healthcare career camp will allow them to interact with healthcare professionals and get hands-on experience.

The students that are accepted into the camp will see medical demonstrations, take part in an anatomy lab tour, visit simulation labs and become CPR certified.

Cost for the healthcare camp is $100 per student, but scholarships will be available for those that qualify for the assistance. The $100 fee will cover meals, lodging and all educational and recreational activities. The application deadline to attend is Friday, April 1, 2016.

The camp runs Sunday, June 19 through Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Lee Medical Building in Vermillion.
