The University of Louisiana Lafayette has disciplined four of its football players after they protested the election of President Elect Donald Trump.

Video surfaced on social media of the players in the locker rooms directing song lyrics at Trump that were clearly in protest of him being elected President.

The school and its head coach Mark Hudspeth suspended the players because of the language used in the video toward Trump.

Many have come to criticize ULL as they site freedom of speech as the reason for their dismay with the discipline.

Others have argued though, that you are able to have the right to freedom of speech but others have the right to react and in this case discipline the players for such speech.

Regardless, the theme continues to be the same across the athletic world as athletes should be commended for giving their opinion on topics that the everyday world deals with and doing so for the most part in a constructive matter.
