Ride sharing services such as Uber and Lyft have been given the green light in Sioux Falls, thanks to city council’s approval Monday night.

According to the Associated Press "the decision isn't popular with taxicab and limousine drivers who feel they aren't being treated fairly. But Councilman Dean Karsky says it fosters free enterprise."

Although the City Council heard the concerns, they cited the differences between taxis and other transportation services and approved the proposal that creates a separate category in Sioux Falls vehicle-for-hire ordinance.
