Two Violations in Liquor Sting

Sioux Falls police say a compliance check of off-sale liquor businesses on Tuesday evening turned up two violations.

Police say 21 businesses were checked and two businesses made a sale to a person under the legal age of 21. The businesses were identified as Nikki's La Mexicana at 905 East 8th Street and Munchies at 717 West 11th Street.

The clerks who made the sales were cited for furnishing alcohol to a person 18-to-20 years of age and will be required to appear in court.

Police remind businesses that those making sales to underage persons could face fines, suspensions or the loss of their liquor or malt beverage licenses, and they also say more such random compliance checks will be conducted.
