Police arrested two men over the weekend in connection with two Sioux Falls assaults.

Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says the first incident began after a boyfriend and girlfriend left a bar.

"The two argued all the way to the victim's house. Once they arrived there, he ended up breaking off the key to the ignition and then left. He then grabbed a bat from the back of the trunk and started hitting the car. He broke the back driver's side window and was threatening to beat the girlfriend with the bat. He kept trying to unlock the car and she kept locking it. Eventually, he just gave up and left."

49-year-old Chad Schander is charged with one count of aggravated assault and one count of intentional damage to property.

In the other incident, Clemens says a Sioux Falls transient attacked two people.

"A brother and sister were walking. Her boyfriend was also along. At some point in time he was upset with her...pushing her to the ground and began punching her in the face. The brother came over and pushed the suspect off of her. The suspect ended up chasing down the brother. The suspect had a mini baseball bat and a bicycle lock and chain. He ended up hitting the brother in the head with those items."

29-year-old Kent Thin Elk faces aggravated assault charges.
