Two Recalls May Change Your Breakfast, Dessert Plans
Hopefully you weren't just popping some of your favorite Aunt Jemima Frozen Waffles, Pancakes or Toast sticks into the toaster oven or microwave. A large voluntary recall of numerous varieties of these products has been announced by the FDA and the parent company of Aunt Jemima, Pinnacle Foods.
The problem is possible listeria contamination, although no illnesses have been reported to this point. Listeria can cause fevers, muscle aches, nausea and diarrhea. It can cause traumatic problems in pregnant women, (miscarriage, stillbirth) elderly people, newborns and adults with compromised immune systems.
This recall affects only Aunt Jemima Frozen products and not their dry mixes or syrups. The products have been or are being removed from retailers' shelves and if you have any of these Aunt Jemima products, you are encouraged to return them to where they were purchased for a full refund. If you have any questions or need more information you may call Pinnacle Foods at 1-888-299-7646.

There is one other FDA recall to mention, but this one has to do with product mislabeling. Ben & Jerry's is voluntarily recalling a limited number of boxes of their Chocolate Fudge Brownie Pint Slices because the boxes may actually contain unlabeled Vanilla Peanut Butter Cup Pint Slices.
Peanut butter is not listed as an ingredient and for people with severe allergies or sensitivities to peanuts who come into contact with the product, this could be life-threatening. Again, so far, there have been no reports of illness.

Consumers are asked to discontinue using the product or dispose of it, but save the outer box and call 1-877-270-7397 for a replacement coupon and more information. Additionally they want consumers to know they do have a customer service representative available from 7:30 AM to 4 PM (CDT).
