Summer 2013 has been the summer of black leather. It's everywhere, made all the more perplexing by how thick and heavy it is. Regardless, even in July -- one of the hottest months of the calendar year -- black leather skirts are all over the place. Better still, there's one appropriate for you, no matter your personal style.

To keep cool, the hem can rise a la Miley Cyrus, or you can get girly with flirty pleats like reality star Audrina Patridge.

Miley Cyrus:

The style rebel and punk tryhard donned a bib-shaped micro-mini in London. You need loads of confidence to go this dangerous with length. You also cannot, under any circumstance, go commando.

This teeny skirt plays up Cyrus' legs and she was smart to pair it with a baggy tee -- albeit a $300 tee by Balenciaga. Heels and leather are a sexy pairing, so the rocker tee, as opposed to a bra-like top, prevented the outfit from looking (too) slutty.

Audrina Patridge:

Lauren Conrad aside, no one really cares about any of 'The Hills' alums anymore -- but LC's pal Patridge remains stylish in her pleated, sorta ruffly leather skirt. The higher waist and more rounded shape allow for a classic yet sexy appeal. There's also an element of whimsy to this cut and Patridge didn't overdo it with the styling.

Kelly Rowland:

The 'X Factor' judge also went classic and classy with her leather skirt. The pencil shape and knee-length scream "sexy librarian" and this slim cut is certainly one that women over the age of 30 can pull off and then some.

Sandra Bullock:

Even though Sandy has a girl-next-door image, she can still get rock n' roll on us. Her pencil skirt is similar to Rowland's, it's just longer (but no less sexy). It's a perfect look for the NYC working woman who wants to be monochromatic and grown up.

Ashley Tisdale:

The Tiz paired her simple leather mini with a striped shirt, which made it playful and summery and gave it a youthful feel.
