The last time we checked, TNT wasn't in the habit of killing off its lead characters, so could the cable network have tied 'Game of Thrones' star and death-prone actor Sean Bean to  his longest role yet? We'll find out, as the actor has signed on to head up TNT's upcoming Howard Gordon-produced drama 'Legends,' replacing actor Brendan Fraser in the lead role. Find out how Sean Bean is the stuff of 'Legends' inside!

'Game of Thrones' season 1 star Sean Bean is returning to television, and it doesn't sound like anyone will be swinging a sword at his head any time soon. Deadline reports that the prolific film star has signed on for the lead role in TNT's 'Legends,' replacing actor Brendan Fraser after the latter departed over issues with the characterization.

Based on the Robert Littell spy novel of the same name and developed by ‘Homeland’s Howard Gordon, ‘Legends’ will follow undercover operative Martin Odum, who has the incredible ability to transform himself into a different person for each job. The operative’s own identity comes into question when a mysterious stranger suggests to the man that Martin isn’t quite who he thinks he is.

What say you?  Do you think Sean Been will stick with TNT's 'Legends,' or find some creative means of adding another death scene to his resume?  Pour another one out for Ned Stark, and tell us if you'll watch 'Legends' in the comments below!
