Throwback Thursday: Usher ‘U Remind Me’ (2001)

In the Summer of 2001, Usher ruled the charts with his lead single from his third album, 8701. The song: "U Remind Me."

It was released in May and went on to own the Summer. It eventually went #1 on Billboard's Hot 100 in July of 2001.

The song tells the story of a young man who meets a young woman, that he likes, but she looks and acts like his ex-girlfriend, therefore, the young man decides not to pursue the relationship.

Usher won a Grammy for the song. He took home the prize for Best Male R&B Performance.

The music video was directed by Dave Meyers and features Chili, from TLC, at the very end.  (Remember, they dated in real life!)
