Tracy Chapman won accolades and awards with the release of "Give Me One Reason" in 1996. The song was on her album New Beginning. 

Undeniably, "Give Me One Reason" is Chapman's biggest hit commercially in the US. It went all the way to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The song was also nominated for many Grammys, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Female Rock Vocal Performance and ultimately winning Best Rock Song at the Grammy Awards of 1997.

The song is a classic blues format and had a lot of crossover appeal. This song was everywhere. It has since been covered by many notable performers such as Eric Clapton, Joe Bonamossa, and Kelly Clarkson.
